The name later changed t Dera Rawer , which is over time shortened to the current name, Darewar.

Construction

History

According to the past records, the groundwork stone of Darewar fort was set around 800 years ago. However, it was vanquished and totally rebuilt by the Nawabs of Bahawalpur in 1733 AD.  Just after a few years, the Nawab of Bahawalpur lost self-control over the fort due to provincial instability. Though, in the nineteenth century they evoked the fort and continued their bastion in the area for a lengthy time. During the complete control of the Nawabs of Bahawalpur, the fort was retained from time to time and was in its best shape. As we have already stated, Abbasi Masjid, which is in nearness to Darewar Fort, is one of the key vestiges of the golden rule of the Nawabs of Bahawalpur in the area of the Cholistan Desert, lower Punjab.

In the 18th century, the fort was taken by Muslim Muslim Nawabs of Bahawalpur from the shahotra tribe . it was later rebuilt in its current from in 1732 by Abbasi ruler Nawab Sadiq Muhammad, but in 1747 the fort slipped from their hands owing to Bhawal khan’s preoccupation at  shikarpur. Nawab Mubarak khan took the strong hold back in 1804.1000 years old catapult shells were found in the debris near a decaying wall in the fort.
