Though, the structure was scratched yet again during the assault of Persian Conqueror Amir Timur. Historians claim Sultan Mubarak Shah of the Sayyid Dynasty reconstructed it.

However, it was Mughal Emperor Akbar who placed the foundation of the modern Lahore Fort in 1566 AD. The stronghold, as we know it today, went through major changes under the rule of King Akbar’s successors. After the ruin of the Mughal Empire, Maharaja Ranjit Singh of the Sikh Empire lived in this fort before it was taken over by the British Armies. Next the creation of Pakistan, Lahore Fort suffered major renovation work and was later declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
