Weekend Blog|Wonderful Khewra Mine Of Pakistan

Pakistan is the land-living of people who have big emotions and lovely souls. This country is so multipurpose in relations of its ethos and old values.

Pakistan has the world’s second-greatest salt mine (The Khewra Mine). This mine is established north of Pind Dadan Khan, a unit of Jhelum District, in the Punjab Province of Pakistan.

Past declares that this mine was first detected by Alexander the Great’s herds in 320 B.C. The natives tell a story about the detection of the salt mine that when Alexander was passing through this way he settled here for some rest and his horses, who were parched, started thrashing some stones. The herds pondered wherefore and strained to find out that what is there in the stones. They originate that it is actually salt which the horses were thrashing and in return, they exposed the great salt mine.

This mine is a great supplier of salt and generates 350,000 tons per year. There are a lot of visitor magnetisms in this mine. There is a well-known mosque in Pakistan known as Badshahi Masjid. It is actually in Lahore, a big city in the Punjab Province, but musicians have made a model of that Masjid in the Khewra mine that is made up of multicolored salt bricks. When the mine shepherd moves his torch on the bricks they light up so magnificently that one can fail to remember to take a breath for a second.

The voyage to the mine begins from a long underpass and an electric train takes you within. During your train journey you see the walls of the underpass, which are all made up of salt. The mine has plentiful attractions, including a copy of Minar-e-Pakistan (a national monument located in Lahore). There is a sculpture of the national poet Allama Iqbal (1877-1938), an collection of gems that form the name of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad in Urdu calligraphy, as well as models of the Great Wall of China and the Mall Road of Murree.

These models do not only portray famous spaces or characters but are also shiny the natural aptitude in the performer’s hands. It shows their hard work near the art and the interesting models depict the colors in the dreams and thoughts of the artists.

Also inside the mine, there is a treatment center for wheezing patients (the mine remains cool, even in summer), a model of Sheesh Mahal, a famous allure in India and a Palace of Mirrors. The Palace of Mirrors is a model made up of rock crystal pieces of salt which have a light pink color. When you see the innate colors in the crystal pieces of salt you cannot control yourself to be grateful for the beauty which lies in nature.

These versions do not only depict famous places or celebrities but are also reflecting the natural talent in the artist’s hands. It shows their relentless work toward the art and the colorful models portray the colors in the dreams and thoughts of the artists.

This mine is open year-round and visitors come to visit it not only from Pakistan but from all over the world. There are many small tarns of thick salty water in the mine and when the light is projected on these pools, it produces different colors which take you to another world, the world of fantasies and the world where pixies leave colors in the air when flying with their multicolored wings.

In short, when you are in the mine you find yourself in an imaginative place where you can feel natural surroundings and can breathe in the beauty. You can buy some tiny gifts for your friends and family that are made of salt and these little styles and things can reveal to you more about the ethos of that area and Pakistan.
